Brief description: 

The University of the West of England, Bristol offers more than £100,000 worth of scholarships for international students each year.  This includes the Chancellor’s Scholarship wherein the recipient will be required to undertake an internship working within the International Development Office and other departments. The recipient will also be required to undertake ambassadorial activity for the University throughout the duration of the course. it covers only 50% tuition fees for one academic year and it applies to Eligible postgraduate programme offered at the university.

Recipients of this scholarship will be required to undertake an internship working within the International Office or other departments and will also be required to undertake ambassadorial activity for the University throughout the duration of the course.

Following graduation, recipients will also be expected to be an active member of the UWE Bristol Alumni Network by helping the University to promote its programmes to prospective students.

Host Institution 

The University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol) is a public research university that received university status in 1992, it is located in and around Bristol, England. Its origins can be traced to the Merchant Venturers’ Technical College, founded as a school in 1595 by the Society of Merchant Venturers, this is the same with the University of Bristol and University of Bath, 

UWE Bristol is made up of several campuses in Greater Bristol. Frenchay Campus is the largest campus in terms of student numbers, as most of its courses are based there. City campus provides courses in the creative and cultural industries, and is made up of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island, and Watershed. The institution is affiliated with the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and validates its higher education courses. Frenchay Campus and Glenside Campus are home to most of the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences, with a further Adult Nursing cohort based at Gloucester Campus. Hartpury Campus provides training in animal sciences, sport, equine, agriculture and conservation. In 2018, the Teaching Excellence Framework awarded the university Gold.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the scholarship, the following is involved:

  • have achieved the equivalent of a British first in an undergraduate degree
  • hold an unconditional offer or a conditional offer where IELTS or equivalent English language is the only condition
  • be a new student to UWE Bristol with no previous UK study
  • be classed as overseas for fees purposes
  • not be a sponsored student or in receipt of another scholarship/award
  • provide official transcripts at the time of application.
