B Davis Scholarship 2022

Scholarship Description:
This grant was created to help Communications Studies majors study abroad. From 1937 to 1942, and again from 1947 to 1948, Frank B. Davis taught Speech and coached Debate in the English Department at Colorado A&M.
During WWII, he served in the Coast Guard in the South Pacific, where he developed a lifelong interest in different countries and cultures that he passed down to his children. Dr. Sue Davis Pendell joined Colorado State University’s Department of Communication Studies in 1979 as a faculty member, where she taught interpersonal and intercultural communication and served in a variety of roles, including Study Abroad advisor, until her retirement in 2014.
This fund provides two scholarships each year: one in the fall for the spring semester and one in the spring for the summer semester. Juniors and seniors in high school, as well as current college students, are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Each year, students are tasked with penning an essay on a specific topic that is less than 1,000 words in length. Awarded students will be contacted via email and have the opportunity to see their names posted on the official website

B Davis Scholarship Application:
Applying for this scholarship requires an essay of no more than 1000 words on one of the following topics. Please email your submissions to [email protected].
- Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.
- Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.
